INTERIOR DESIGN
about
Welcome to my design journey. I'm Lee-Ann Gerber, and I've always found joy in transforming spaces into beautiful, functional havens. My approach to design is like solving an engaging puzzle, especially when it comes to smaller spaces - where every piece must fit perfectly to create harmony, beauty and functionality.
Last year, I formalised my passion by earning a Diploma from the Interior Design Institute. I especially enjoy the challenge of distilling the full life and essence of a person into a smaller space. This frees up resources, time and mental capacity, so that your space can serve your ideal lifestyle, and not the other way around.
My personal style is centred around repurposing high-quality or sentimental items in an unexpected way and combining these with newer pieces and mostly natural materials. I enjoy using both feminine and masculine elements in the same space, creating a harmonious visual dance.
I will assists you through a spatial transition where we will reimagine, distil, declutter, organise and design a space that embodies your personality and supports your daily needs. Let’s transform your home into a cosy, manageable space that perfectly suits your evolving lifestyle.

ASEM | KLEIN PARADYS
In 2024, my brother-in-law, Johann, and I embarked on an ambitious creative journey, competing in Klein Paradys, a reality DIY competition on KykNET. As one of six selected teams, we were tasked with transforming a 3×7m light steel frame into a fully functional, high-end guest micro-unit—all within just 25 days. With Johann’s structural engineering expertise and my passion for interior design, we set out to craft something truly special.
From the start, I was drawn to the philosophy of Wabi Sabi—the Japanese aesthetic that finds beauty in imperfection, simplicity, and the natural flow of time. This approach became our guiding principle as we shaped a space that was not just stylish but deeply calming and connected to nature. We focused on raw, organic materials, a muted earthy palette, and an effortless flow between the indoor and outdoor areas, extending the living space into the surrounding landscape. Every asymmetry, texture, and handmade detail was intentionally embraced, creating a sense of warmth, authenticity, and quiet luxury.
With limited resources, minimal sleep, and just a few hours of help from a construction team, we poured everything into bringing this vision to life. Despite the challenges, we delivered a completed space that embodied rest, renewal, and the essence of Wabi Sabi—and in the end, we won the competition.
ASEM, our winning micro-unit, is now available for booking at Old MacDaddy—an invitation to step away from the rush of everyday life and experience a space designed for stillness, simplicity, and the beauty of the imperfect.

COSY READING AND REST
A good friend of mine recently asked me to help redo her rental bedroom. She is busy with her community year as a newly qualified Veterinarian and wanted a room that would be a cosy haven at the end of long days saving animal lives. She loves reading under soft warm lighting, escaping into the magic of her books whilst being embraced by all the cosy textures.
I managed to upcycle her headboard and found secondhand bedside tables which I sanded and gave new life with a coat of paint. We found a lovely vintage dresser, that needed some TLC, but now is the perfect spot for her to get ready in the mornings and to house her pet snake.
I made sure that all the changes we made were renter friendly and all the new items could move with her to her future home.
What she had to say:
"Lee Ann was such a pleasure to work with. She took my vague ideas and built me the bedroom of my dreams. It is now the perfect comfy, cosy place to relax after a long day. Lee Ann has impeccable taste and a real talent for upscaling existing furniture and second hand finds."
